Who decide what's presented?Oral and poster presentations are selected by the two chairmen of the session, based on the scientific merit of the work. To promote discussion and exchange of ideas, the aim is to have a wide range of expertise at the meeting, covering many countries and laboratories. Due to limited space and funding, the number of people attending the conference will be limited. In an attempt to obtain the highest possible scientific quality of the meeting in general, and at the same time make the selection of abstracts as fair as possible, the chairmen in each session are asked to grade the abstracts based on the following criteria:
1. Originality and significance of the work. 2. Quality of the experimental design and technique. 3. Interest for the session and for arteriosclerosis in general. 4. That the scientist will be able to give a presentation of high standard.
and to place them into the 5 categories shown below:
1: Definitely oral 2: Maybe oral 3: Definitely poster 4. Maybe poster 5: Reject/participant only
To make it equally difficult to be allowed to give an oral presentation in all four sessions of the meeting, the same percentage of abstracts (placed in category 1-4) in each session are allocated to oral or poster presentation. Roughly 25% of the applicants will give oral presentations, 30% will present posters, and 45% will not present data.
Young Investigator Award open to all participants under the age of 35. There will be an award for both an oral and a poster presentation.
Selected applicants are expected to participate in the general discussion of the presentations, and to stay for the full length of the meeting. Ample time will be allowed for interaction and discussion among participants.
